Walter Scott - Chardonnay - Koosah Vineyard

Overview: Perched at 700–1,100 feet on the windswept crest of the Eola-Amity Hills, Koosah Farm spans 82.5 acres, with 44 acres dedicated to vineyards and the rest supporting diverse ecosystems, including orchards and oak savannah pasture. Founded by Kevin and Carla Chambers—pioneers in Oregon viticulture since 1980—Koosah represents their continued commitment to regenerative farming. After selling their Resonance Vineyard to Burgundy’s famed Maison Louis Jadot in 2013, the Chambers established Koosah, implementing permaculture techniques and brewing compost teas on-site to enhance microbial diversity and soil health. Walter Scott began sourcing fruit from Koosah in 2019, working with 1.4 acres of Pinot Noir and 3.3 acres of Chardonnay across three mixed-clone blocks.

Koosah’s exposed position invites powerful Van Duzer winds, slowing ripening and preserving acidity while building intensity in the fruit. The vineyard’s holistic farming approach fosters a thriving microbiome, naturally reducing disease and insect pressures while allowing the vines to express their full potential. Pinot Noir from these sheer volcanic slopes delivers depth and structure, while the Chardonnay offers precision and energy, a true reflection of this extraordinary site, now farmed under the stewardship of Maison Louis Jadot and Résonance Winery.

Tasting Notes: Apple blossom, yuzu zest, and honeysuckle with white nectarine and crushed oyster shell salinity. Brisk crystalline acidity gives energy and precision with a striking finish of white peach.
